"An ambitiously subversive young troupe"
-Time Out NY

An amazing theatrical experience.
-NYTheatre.com on Nuclear Love Affair

"This play is spectacular....The general feeling is one of awe that this play has taken key moments not of history but of the feeling of the time, and gently problematized them to produce a great piece of entertainment that is well acted and wonderfully executed."
-Prague Post on Nuclear Love Affair

Journey through three generations of weddings, wars and discotheques in this multimedia ballad that follows the struggles and dreams of a family born into revolution. Inspired by the controversial story of Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, Iran's Foreign Minister during the 1979 hostage crisis, and written by his great-niece, the production unpacks the core issues at play between Iran, US and global interests. With a feverish score and high-octane choreography, the production gives voice to a rising global counterculture and asks: in a world consumed by fire who will be the final victor?

Built for Collapse is an award-winning theater company committed to building multi-disciplinary work that challenges theatrical form. Their latest work, Nuclear Love Affair, performed to sold-out houses in Prague and Krakow before running at HERE last season. Their work has been presented at Ars Nova, 3LD Art & Technology Center, HERE, Galapagos Art Space, the Brooklyn Lyceum, Access Theater and elsewhere; and internationally in Prague, Krakow, Rome and Berlin.
