Three
actors - who used to “do shit” together – run into each other in the
park. One’s famous, one’s left the biz, and one still “does
shit”. What is it to be independent when freedom is money,
reality is produced, and no one wants to see your shit? A
debatable manifesto on the econopathics of one-way
exchange. Featuring OBIE Award winner Meg MacCary. Inverse
Theater Company creates new American verse plays. Voted “Best Downtown
Theater Company” by the New York Press in 2001, it’s won two
“Excellence Awards” in fringeNYC, a Caffé Cino Award from the NYITA,
and its playwright/artistic director, Kirk Wood Bromley, has been
called “Shakespeare on mushrooms” (LA Weekly, 2004).

By Rachel Shukert Directed by Stephen Brackett Music by Jerm Pollet bushwickhotel.com With
only his cooking-pot, his special sleeping log and His Dream, John
Chapman makes his way through the wilds of frontier America, spreading
joy, laughter and syphilis wherever he scatters his seed. But
will fame clip this dreamer’s wings? A tall tale of a very loving
person.
The Bushwick Hotel is based upon the collaboration of
playwright Rachel Shukert and director Stephen Brackett. Called “wild,
sprawling, irreverent, politically charged, uncategorizable” by L
Magazine. Recent productions include Sequins for Satan and Bloody Mary
(“possibly the funniest display of political fanaticism since The
Producers” -- Time Out/NY).

The
final days of Rose Mary Woods, loyal secretary to Richard M. Nixon, as
she observes the presidential election of 2004 from her swing-state
nursing home. And tries to teach her pot-head attendant about power,
loyalty, and lying. And has some very, very strange dreams. New
Georges, in business for 15 years, produces idiosyncratic new plays in
downtown theaters, and maintains all manner of theatrical activity in
its play and artist development space, The Room. Recent
productions have been called “fiercely good,” “awe-inspiring,”
“stellar,” “thrilling” and “fantastical,” and we’re an artistic
home for some of the most inventive theater artists (who are women)
working today.

Written by Alena Smith Dir. by Susanna Gellert Producer Shira Beckerman Her mother’s photographs turned Lacy into an icon of childhood innocence and beauty.
Now,
on the night of her 22nd birthday, Lacy has to navigate between image
and reality, sex and friendship, self-indulgence and
responsibility. An incisive portrait of a young woman held
captive by her own childhood. A vivid picture of a generation adrift in a sea of excess, raised in a culture of indulgence and unable to grow up.
The
Lacy Project was originally developed at Yale School of Drama. It
was a finalist for the ’06 O’Neill Playwrights Conference and the ’06
Princess Grace Award. Last fall, it was presented in STT’s
6th Floor Series. “A smashingly original young playwright… wildly
talented.'" – John Guare.

Delves into the worlds of two women,
one man, and a quest for love. By amplifying the physical
manifestations of longing and desire, Rindfleisch sculpts demanding and
quirky movement, text, and music into a landscape drenched in
want. Inspired by the novel Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki
Murakami. Scored to operatic voices and a live rock band.
Previous
Rindfleisch productions at Danspace Project, the Sitelines Festival,
Movement Research, Dixon Place, and others, have been hailed for
"[creating] a lingering memory" (Time Out/ NY) and their "sexy
authority" (The New York Times).
| | | | Written by John Kaplan Directed by Desmond Mosley Producer: Meghan May Hart
A
struggling vampire family descends on an evangelical college in the
Midwest. When dad‘s midlife crisis of immortality triggers a
desire to come back to life after 4,000 years, every assumption about
god, sex, and the nature of longing is back in play. A story of
conception, addiction, and matriculation. Scored to a live
theremin.
Productions of Kaplan’s plays at the Ohio Theatre
include The Men Are Afraid of the Women, Bad Skin, Little Man and The
Undeads. John is a NYSFA Playwrighting Fellow who’s work
